Am I making progress with Versus?

Am I making progress with Versus?

Here, we discuss different methods that you may use to measure your progress with Versus. We also answer frequently asked questions related to success with Versus.

Every Versus user is unique. Based on your starting point, goals, and exercise plan, success may look different for you. For additional information, visit support.getversus.com.

1. How do I know I’m making progress with Versus?

1.1 Via your personal experience

Versus was designed to help users live better lives by teaching them the skills to manage their stress or enhance their focus. When looking to understand how you are progressing with Versus, we encourage you to pay attention to how you are feeling and functioning in your everyday life.

For users on Focus performance protocols, a better ability to create and sustain a focused mind state – in school, at the office, or at home – is one indication of success. Users on Stress performance protocols may notice the ability to better manage stress or to sleep more soundly with the use of the Versus system.

1.2 Via the Versus App

In the Performance tab of the Versus App, you can view the amount of points you earned during each completed exercise session in comparison to your goal for each session. In general, the number of points you earn should increase in each subsequent exercise session you complete. If you are meeting or surpassing your points goal for an exercise session, that is an indication of success.

1.3 Via the Versus User Dashboard

You can also compare your points and goal for each completed exercise session in the Sessions tab of your Versus User Dashboard.

Additionally, in the Sessions tab of the User Dashboard, you can view the amount of Optimal Zone Time you accumulated for each exercise session. Generally, you should aim to earn more Zone Time in each subsequent exercise session you complete. However, the amount of points and Optimal Zone Time you accumulate may be affected by your game level, which is also visible for each session in the User Dashboard. If you are still able to earn points and Optimal Zone Time at a higher game level, you may be progressing with Versus.

Access to the User Dashboard is included with your Versus subscription. View your User Dashboard by logging in using your Versus email and password here.

1.4 Via a Versus Partner

If you would like additional guidance in using Versus or are interested in learning more about your exercise or assessment results, we suggest working with a Versus Partner. Versus Partners are independent, authorized professionals who incorporate Versus into their business.

Versus Partners have access to the Versus Professional Dashboard, where they can view more detailed information about your exercise sessions and assessment results. Using their expertise, Versus Partners may help you better understand your Versus data and progress more quickly with Versus. Find your nearest Versus Partner here.

2. Why do the games feel harder sometimes?

2.1 Your game level

The first reason that the exercises might feel harder is that they may indeed be harder. Versus is like a gym for your brain. Just as you would lift heavier weights to increase the strength of your muscles, the Versus exercises tend to increase in difficulty over time to strengthen your brain’s focus or relaxation skills.

To continue to challenge your brain, the Versus games automatically level up when you are consistently doing well at creating the desired brain state (getting the three circles to fully converge). The higher the game level, the harder it is to get the three circles to converge and to earn Optimal Zone Time. Therefore, just because the exercises feel harder, doesn’t mean you are less successful; it may actually mean the opposite.

As your brain adjusts to this increased difficulty and develops strategies to remain calm or focused, these higher-level games will likely become easier and you will be able to accumulate more points and Optimal Zone Time. If you continue to struggle to get the three circles to converge, you will automatically be moved down to a lower level to prevent you from becoming frustrated.

2.2 Your mind state

The games may also feel more difficult based on your mood or mind state during game play. Your motivation, concentration, alertness, energy level, and other factors which can affect game success may vary day-to-day. If you are finding the games to be too difficult, do not be discouraged. Try taking a break and resuming the exercises at a different date or time.

3. Why didn’t I earn any Optimal Zone Time?

Optimal Zone Time refers to the moments when you are in the ideal brain state for either focus or relaxation, depending on your performance protocol. Don’t be disappointed if you earn no or very little Optimal Zone Time. It’s hard to achieve this optimal brain state, which is why we created Versus. It may be especially difficult when you are on a high game level. As you exercise more, it should get easier to achieve Optimal Zone Time.

4. Why am I earning points even when I feel like I’m not doing well?

Versus rewards both success and effort. That means you will earn points when you are in the optimal zone (all three circles are completely converged), but you’ll also accumulate points for moving the circles closer to the center, even if they’re not fully converging. The higher your game level, the more your efforts will be rewarded with points. Thus, even if you cannot get the circles to completely converge, you can still earn points for getting closer to the optimal brain state.
