The Versus Exercises | What Do the 3 Circles Represent?

What do the 3 circles represent?

We all strive to be intently focused and clear-headed. But, how do we know what those brain states feel like or when we’ve achieved them? The Versus Exercises are designed to help you create these favorable brain states and identify how you feel when you do. That way, you can replicate those states in your everyday life.

There are three circles at the bottom of all of the Versus Exercises. Each circle represents an element of brain wave activity that is required to reach an ideal brain state for relaxation or concentration. Below, we’ll explain what the three circles mean, how to move each toward the middle, and which mental skills you or your clients will learn as you do so.

The goal of the Versus Exercises

The goal of the Versus Exercises

Based on the results of your NeuroPerformance Assessment, you will be assigned either a Stress or Focus Performance Protocol, which will determine the goal of the exercises you play. If you are on a Stress Performance Protocol, you should aim to create a calm, meditative brain state while you play the Versus Exercises. On a Focus Performance Protocol, your goal will be to produce a focused, attentive brain state.

The Optimal Zone

The Optimal Zone

In the Versus Exercises, the three circles are a visual representation of how well you are reaching the Optimal Zone - a deeply relaxed or focused brain state. The more the circles overlap, the better you are doing at producing that brain state and vice versa.

To drive the game feedback (lift the balloon, fly the plane, accelerate the car, hit the golf ball), you will need to bring the three circles closer to the center by calming your mind or focusing on the task at hand. The games will reward your efforts with NeuroPoints.

When you are in the Optimal Zone for relaxation or concentration, the three circles will overlap completely and a yellow ring will appear around them. You’ll also earn NeuroPoints more quickly when you’re in the Optimal Zone.

The meaning of each circle

To reach the Optimal Zone, you must bring each element of brain wave activity represented by the three circles together. Check out this graphic to learn what each circle means and how to reach the Optimal Zone.

The best way to challenge your mind

The mental skills you’ll learn in the Versus Exercises will help you perform well beyond the games. You’ll develop strategies that you can use to remain focused at work or school, stay calm under pressure, and meditate more deeply.
